BOTOX® Cosmetic
BOTOX® Cosmetic is the most popular aesthetic treatment in the United States! Of the 17.5 million surgical and minimally invasive procedures, including injectables, performed in 2017, products such as BOTOX® Cosmetic, Dysport® and Xeomin® are the most popular for non-invasive facial rejuvenation. According to reports, 7.23 million botulinum toxin type A procedures were performed in the U.S., which is also two percent more than in 2016.
Dr. Nalini Prasad advises her cosmetic enhancement patients that BOTOX® Cosmetic is an excellent non-surgical procedure to help men and women look refreshed, revitalized and younger. BOTOX® Cosmetic has been used safely and successfully in medicine for over 10 years and was FDA-approved for wrinkle therapy in 2002. The new, similar product called Dysport® is also gaining popularity and was FDA-approved in 2009. Dr. Prasad and her cosmetic specialist will help patients decide which product will work the best to achieve their anti-aging and facial renewal goals.
Within just a few days after treatment, and sometimes right away, you will start to develop a younger, more relaxed appearance. BOTOX® Cosmetic and Dysport® treatments will have you looking refreshed and revitalized, leaving friends and co-workers wondering just what your secret is.
Why Should I Go To Laser Esthetica for my BOTOX® Cosmetic treatment?
It is crucial when getting a BOTOX® Cosmetic injection to make sure that the practitioner doing the treatment is well-qualified and is a skilled and certified injector. If not, there can be complications as BOTOX® Cosmetic is a prescription medication and you could be very unhappy with your results.
Dr. Prasad and her staff have the knowledge, skill, and eye for what’s going on beneath the skin and know how much BOTOX® Cosmetic to inject at precise points that will make their worst wrinkles disappear while keeping their facial integrity and helping to restore their face to a more youthful appearance.
Dr. Prasad’s medical training fused with her care and concern for patients is what makes Laser Esthetica a safe and comfortable setting to achieve the results you want. The doctor always says that her favorite thing about working is the relationship she has with her patients, and she wouldn’t trade those for the world.
Laser Esthetica’s patients are in the hands of experienced professionals who will give them the natural look they want.
How Much Does Botox Cost?
The cost of a Botox treatment varies from patient to patient and depends on the individual needs of each person. Factors we take into account are the area(s) treated and the number of units used. Dr. Prasad will perform an assessment of your features and discuss your goals to develop a fully customized surgical plan. She will then discuss the associated cost of the botox treatment.

How Does It Work?
BOTOX® Cosmetic treatments include injecting very small amounts of a purified protein into specific areas to improve lines, wrinkles and furrows caused by excessive facial movements, like frowning. Typically, the injections are used to erase forehead lines, crow’s feet (wrinkles around the eyes) and frown lines (in between your eyebrows). Other areas may be treated as well.
The wrinkles in these areas are actually creases that are created or worn into the skin by muscle contractions that are used to make the same expressions repeatedly. The product is then injected in tiny amounts into such an area, causing specific muscles to stop moving. There is no numbness in the injection area because it does not affect your sensory nerves.

What Is The Difference Between BOTOX® Cosmetic and Dysport®?
The main difference between the two products is that some people prefer one over the other. Both products are purified proteins, or neurotoxin, and they behave very similarly in the body. During your consultation, the differences between the two will be outlined more specifically to help you decide which one is best for you.

What Concerns Do Patients Have About BOTOX® Cosmetic Injections?
A common fear is that BOTOX® Cosmetic will leave you looking frozen. This is a misconception, as the execution of the treatment makes the difference, rather than the product itself. Laser Esthetica aims to achieve natural looking results for each patient. Our patients learn to understand the approach and techniques used to accomplish this goal, and are pleased time and time again with their results.
Another concern for most men is that BOTOX® Cosmetic is a procedure strictly for women. Men get wrinkles too! Men that decide to get BOTOX® Cosmetic or Dysport® treatments are just as happy as women are to have a younger, more refreshed look.

How Long do the Results of the Treatment Last, and How can I Make it Last Longer?
Results of BOTOX® Cosmetic treatment typically last about four months. However, if you come in for retreatment before the effects of the last treatment fully wear off, the muscles will never get a chance to fully recover and the effects can last longer. If you decide to discontinue treatment after the effect wears off, the wrinkles that you were treating will go back to looking as they did before the procedure, and could potentially get worse since they are allowed to move again.
-
Does The Injection Hurt?
Laser Esthetica uses tiny specialized needles for BOTOX® Cosmetic injections that make the process easy and comfortable. No anesthesia is required, and no downtime is to be expected afterwards.

What Happens After The Procedure?
There is no recovery time needed, you can go right back to your daily routine!

Can BOTOX® Cosmetic Injections Be Done On The Same Visit As Dermal Fillers Or With Laser Treatments?
Yes! Laser Esthetica often does both dermal filler injections and BOTOX® or Dysport® on the same day. Dermal fillers include Restylane®, Juvederm®, Perlane®, and Radiesse®, and are typically used on the lower half of the face to complement the work done by BOTOX® Cosmetic on the upper half. It is common for patients to use BOTOX® for the dynamic wrinkles (wrinkles present during muscle activity and movement) and a filler for the static wrinkles (wrinkles present at rest, or creases in your skin). The results of each therapy compliment each other, providing a more comprehensive, rejuvenated appearance. Other laser treatments may also be performed on the same day, and Laser Esthetica will confirm that the specific laser being used will not interfere with the effects of your BOTOX® Cosmetic treatment.

What Are the Possible Side Effects And Complications Of BOTOX® Cosmetic?
Side effects and complications from the procedure are uncommon. They include a temporary decrease in brow height and rarely, eyelid droop. Localized pain, infection, inflammation, tenderness, swelling, redness, and/or bleeding/bruising may be associated with the injection, but these effects are extremely anomalous.
We do not perform these injections on patients that are pregnant or breastfeeding. Nor we do perform treatments on patients with certain neuromuscular disorders such as ALS, myasthenia gravis, or Lambert-Eaton syndrome, all of which would increase the risk of serious side effects.

What Other Areas Can Be Treated With BOTOX® Cosmetic?
In addition to frown lines, crow’s feet and worry lines on the forehead, BOTOX® can be used to treat vertical lipstick lines, bunny lines, dimpling on the chin and other areas of the face. BOTOX® can also treat vertical platysmal bands on the neck, and excessive palmar (hand) or axillary (underarm) sweating.
