Myths About Dermal Fillers
Dermal fillers are one of the best ways for you to temporarily fill in fine lines, wrinkles, and add volume to your lips at the same time. Not only are they effective, but they also give patients almost instant results. If you have been thinking about trying fillers, but you are hesitant, this is the blog post for you. First, here is what dermal fillers can do:
- Plump thin lips
- Enhance shallow contours
- Soften facial creases and wrinkles
- Improve the appearance of recessed scars
- Reconstruct contour deformities in the face
- Decrease or remove the shadow of the lower lids
Now, let’s debunk some common myths when it comes to fillers.
Myth #1: Fillers will give you a fake look
Fillers will start to look ‘fake’ when they are over-injected. Injection placement is the number one way for you to get either natural looking results or an inflated look. Here at Laser Esthetica, we have the training and techniques to give you natural looking results.
Myth #2: There will be a lot of bruising/downtime
Much of the bruising and swelling that can occur with filler injections, particularly around the eyes or mouth, can be reduced by using cool compresses and elevating your head after you’ve received treatment.
Most of the time, bruising and/or swelling can be concealed with makeup and is not very noticeable. As a safeguard against the occasions when it is more noticeable, we recommend that you don’t have your filler treatments performed within a week to 10 days of a major event such as a wedding.
Myth #3: People will be able to tell
If you are going for a subtle look, most people probably won’t notice. We recommend adding a little bit of dermal fillers at a time. Then, if you want to come in and get more, we can always add to it. If you are scared about getting dermal fillers, let us soothe your worries and come into our office for a consultation.
