What are moles?
Moles and skin tags are extra deposits of skin that occur anywhere on the body as we age. Moles most commonly appear on the face and skin tags most commonly on the neck area. Another commonly occurring lesion are seborrheic keratosis, a thickening of the skin which occurs on the back, sides and abdomen especially, in the bra line.
Sometimes a mole can be present for many years and grow very slowly and sometimes it can grow over night. Moles are usually round in size, without color and smooth. Skin tags are extra skin that are deposited by the body.
How are moles removed?
Dr. Prasad has indicated that there are many options to remove these unwanted and sometimes unsightly lesions. One way is to perform a shave excision. This uses a scalpel to slice off the lesion. Another way is to do a punch biopsy. This can often leave a small area of depression in the skin.
At Laser Esthetica, Dr. Prasad most often uses the Ellman radiofrequency machine to ablate the unwanted lesions. After cleaning the skin, the area is anesthetized with an local anesthetic. Once the skin is numb, Dr Prasad removes the lesions layer by layer using the radiofrequency energy. Dr Prasad has performed thousands of these procedures and can help you have smooth skin.
