What Is Fractional Resurfacing?
Fractional Resurfacing is one of the newest technologies in the field of laser treatments. It successfully corrects many dermatological and cosmetic skin conditions, with increased comfort and minimal post-treatment pain and care.
Why Is Fractional Resurfacing Beneficial?
Fractional laser skin treatments give exceptional results for skin resurfacing and correcting skin conditions, including scars, fine lines and wrinkles, superficial lesions, epidermal nevi, and keratoses. Laser Esthetica has successfully used this treatment on many patients with acne scars and crepiness, or wrinkles, around the eye and mouth areas.
How Is The Treatment Performed?
The Fractional Resurfacing treatment delivers laser or high-powered light energy in a pattern similar to the pixels on your TV screen, leaving untreated areas of skin between treated areas of skin. Since the treated areas are much smaller than the surrounding healthy tissue, healing time is significantly shortened. This laser treatment causes your body to produce its own collagen as a reaction, helping the texture of the skin. Fractional resurfacing treatment differs from the traditional full-surface ablative laser skin treatments (such as CO2 lasers) that use a beam of intense laser energy that is passed over the entire skin surface, vaporizing the entire top layer.
What Is The Downtime For Fractional Resurfacing?
Because the treatments are in concentrated areas rather than the whole face, patients can return to normal activity within a few days.
What Specific Technologies Are Available For Fractional Resurfacing?
At Laser Esthetica, we have two fractional resurfacing energies available – CO2 and Erbium. Both of these technologies help with resurfacing and are used to clear skin. With little to no downtime for our patients, our fractional non-ablative lasers provide skin resurfacing treatments with promising effectiveness and comfort with excellent results.
